Why Do Wordpress Themes Sometimes Not Display Properly?

This is a strange one, but one i have come across quite a few times, particularly when using the Prosense theme.

Symptoms: The preview of the theme in WP-ADMIN>Design>Themes is blank and when you activate the theme it seems to work but when you visit the site itself there is only text, no graphics or layout or colors.

Solution: I have found this tends to happen when you upload the .zip file to the FTP server then unzip it on the server.  The way to work around this is to unzip the theme file on your pc first then upload the whole (unzipped) folder to your server under /wp-content/themes/

* If you don’t see a correct preview of the theme in the WP-ADMIN>Design>Themes section then it’s likely not going to work properly.
