How To Automate Affiliate Sales With Viglink
Viglink makes it possible to to add affiliate marketing to your blog without all the work you normally have to set up every affiliate account. You just have to subscribe with Viglink and they do all the work. Does this sounds nice to you?
About affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a very busy business. Today almost every big company has an affiliate program. This means that if you can send a visitor of your blog to their website, and if that person actually buys something, that you’ll earn a percentage of the sale.
That makes affiliate marketing one of the most popular ways of earning money online. The downside is that it takes a lot of work: you have to write about a product or a service, you have to subscribe to the affiliate program of that company… it all costs a lot of time! And that’s where Viglink offers a nice solution!
What is Viglink?
Viglink stands between you and the companies offering affiliate programs. You sign up with Viglink, while Viglink signs up with the companies offering affiliate programs. But why should you let do somebody else what you can do yourself? There are a couple of reasons for that:
- you have to sign up once with Viglink, no need to sign up for each affiliate program
- Viglink takes care about the affiliate hyperlinks (hyperlinks on your blog are turned in affiliate links automatically!)
- Affiliate programs pay out when you reach a minimum fee. So you have a minimum fee for each affiliate program you signed up for. With Viglink, you even don’t have to reach a minimum!
How does it work?
The only thing you have to do is subscribe to Viglink and install their plugin or some lines of code. The Viglink code will look at every hyperlink on your blog and check if you have an affiliate program on that link. If not, Viglink will check if they have an affiliate program and automatically turn your normal link into an affiliate link. If it leads to a sale, that affiliate program will pay out Viglink. Viglink will transfer those earnings to you, but they’ll keep a percentage for them.
How much does Viglink keeps of your affiliate sale?
It’s not really clear how much Viglink keeps when you make a sale. I’ll take a sale of Artisteer as an example. Last week, I made an affiliate sale. Artisteer normally pays 10 % for a first sale. The total amount was $49 so normally I would receive $4,90 from Artisteer. I received $ 3,75 from Viglink, so it seems like they keep around 25% for them. But, let’s take a closer look. The more sales you make, the more Artisteer will pay you. I think Viglink sells much more then $49 of Artisteer products. So this means they get a higer %. Let’s say they get 30% for each sale. This means that (in this case) Artisteer pays out $ 14,70 to Viglink and Viglink keeps around 75% of that affiliate sale…

Conclusion
If you have a blog and want to earn money, Viglink can sure be an extra way of income. Especially if you have a little blog with not that much visitors. But I think if you make a lot of affiliate sales for a certain product, it’s better to sign up directly to the affiliate program of that company in stead of using Viglink for that.
